This weekend sees the return of Fellgather, a great event that gives people a taste of rural life in Cumbria, especially farming and the food that is produced locally. Taking place in Cockermouth on the 11th June it gives people the chance to meet the farm animals that are an important part of life in Lakeland, plus the chance to watch rural crafts and taste some fabulous Cumbrian produce. It's a great day out for the family because there is so much to see and do and it also provides an ideal opportunity to educate children about where their food comes from.
There will be numerous local food, drink and craft producers, from butter makers to beekeepers and butchers to brewers. There will also be plenty of opportunities to learn a new skill with cooking and craft demonstrations galore, including basket making, weaving, spinning and dry stone walling.
Also at the event this year will be the Marston family, whose farm was featured in this years 'Lambing Live', along with some of the lambs that were born on the show.
